It's here!!! Before Christmas I got paid for my first proper freelance design job, so decided to upgrade some of my equipment with the earnings. For years now I've been using my Active XP-Pen graphics tablet and it's really showing its age. (not that it was amazing when I got it in the first place). The only name people ever mention for graphics tablets is Wacom. So that's what I went for. My budget wasn't exactly huge so no Cintiq or Intuos for me as yet. Which left me with the Bamboo. I went for the 'pen' as opposed to the 'pen & touch' as to be honest what would I really need a touch pad for. Especially as the touch costs an extra 35 quid on top.
This may sound odd but I'm very impressed with the presentation and packaging. It makes sense that something for art and design should be, well.. arty and designy really.
The product itself is a lovely looking piece of kit with a very satisfying feel to it. Now all I need to do is actually plug it in and install it. That's when the real fun should hopefully start. I'll do some test pics and post them over the next few days.
Hope you all had a cracking Christmas and Santa bought you lots of goodies.
I'll be honest with you all it's not been the greatest of months in casa elblondino but hey ho and on we go.
On a more positive note however I have started working on the Cornelius game more, as well as my new business venture which I will explain shortly.
Above is a prototype I have been working on of the card design for the game. Ignore the flag and fonts etc, as they were slung in to test the layout but at last a positive step in the right direction has been made.
With regards to my business venture, I am currently building a new website as the face of my tentative steps into freelance work. As soon as I have it finished and ready I'll do a big jazzy launch blog :-)
So moving on 2012 is nearly over and 2013 is soon to begin. The Mayan/Olmec end of the world never happened so lets grab life by the short and hairies and make the new year a good one.
Happy New Year everyone.
Good evening all. I'm afraid I've been a little pressed for time lately so haven't been updating the blog and site as I should. To make up for this laxness I have some exciting stuff for you all to look at tonight. As I'm sure you're all aware the zombots have been taking over my life in true mad scientist fashion for a while now, and with Thought Bubble stimulating my motivation glands recently this means both the comic and the game have started filling my brain again.
To start with I have added this little montage onto Coolminiornot to see if I can start getting people enthused enough to want to donate to a potential kickstarter next year.
This however is not the most exciting part....... A twitter friend of mine whom I finally met at Thought Bubble, Mr Andrew Segal aka @Cosmonautilus has been doing a little bit of playing with the zombot concept and has started to.... Look scroll to the bottom of the post and take a look. ITS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!
Did I not say these were Awesome?! And these are only quick tests. Just imagine fully finished rendered loveliness!!!!!!! :-)
This makes me want to expand on my ideas so so much and by god I think I will. Let me know what you think guys, and hopefully they'll get other people excited about Cornelius as I am.
