Just a quick one today. Progress has been quite steady on the 15mm hydra army with a few units together and being painted. My major shortness in the army so far is a leader. Well I think I've solved that now. Dr Arnim Zola!!!
Ill take some photos of the model once I get some sculpting done on it but its based on one of the GZG light evac suits. Anyway that enough for now I'd best crack on with it all :-)
Hi everyone. Hope you are all keeping well and the dice gods are shining upon you. These last few weeks or should i say months have been totally hectic and I have neglected you all. So here is an update on all things Elblondino.
Firstly last weekend was Nerdfest in Nottingham which for those who don't know is the first Nottingham comic con run by illustrator Kev Brett. As with any first time event you never know quite what to expect, but by god did he do a good job. It was a well organised affair with some fantastic exhibitors there. I myself was between Mike Jackson and Reckless Hero who are both awesome artists and I highly recommend you check out there work. Here are a few of the bits i managed to pick up from the day. Just need some frames for the prints to go up in the office now. :-)
Off the back of Nerdfest I had some fantastic feedback about 'Rise of the Zombots' which has made me realise i really need to ramp up Project Cornelius. Which is now exactly what is happening, with new people coming on board and research underway to setup a kicksatarter hopefully within the next year.
Finally there are to be some changes with the Clumsy Pickle side of things. I am in the process of building a new website which will be blog based and therefore much more dynamic. In conjunction with this I will be incorporating Elblondino into Clumsy Pickle. This website will still exist but a lot of the game and comic stuff will move over to www.clumsypickle.co.uk
who knows there may end up being clumsy pickle games. ;-)
Speak to you soon guys
Ladies and gentlemen. For your viewing pleasure. My first ever Vlog!! Apologies for the sheer amount of errrs and the wobbly poor quality video but its the first one and things can only get better.
Oh yes and it's an update on the Cornelius project. Enjoy :-)
Hi everybody it's blog time again!! :-) I've got some new stuff to show you all tonight which I'm really excited about.
Work has been coming along quite quickly on the Cornelius game and the comic. The only thing I'm waiting on now until I can start sculpting and making up prototypes is the putty.
I am working through the rules and will hopefully have a playable test version ready soon. The board hexes are here ready for some sculpting fun, and finally Ant over at Black Pyramid Gaming has kindly sent me some of their British infantry models to use with the game. These guys are fantastic multi-part metal miniatures with pith helmets and martini henry rifles which will represent the standard British military in the game. They come from Black Pyramids Tea Wars range which has some fantastic bits in there including an armoured steam traction engine!! (I want one)
These coupled with the stuff I have already been working on such as zombots etc means we're finally getting to a very fun place.
What's next I hear you ask?! Well there is a lot to do including finishing the rules, sculpting new models, making the comic etc. However one of the main things needed is to get the project known, to get people interested in what I hope is going to be a very fun and different steampunk gaming experience.
So spread the word folks, then that way we can all hopefully get to play and join in the fun. Then its Kickstarter!!!
As always comments are welcome and you can always find me on twitter if you want to know more.
How do folks. Its been a busy day here with all the business hoops that need to be jumped through. However the post man did leave a nice little something for me when I returned. The Hex tiles for the prototype game board all freshly cut and smelling of burnt wood mmmmm.
This means I can finally start getting everything together and iron out the rules ready for some alpha testing. I do have one minor problem though at the moment and that's the name. Obviously its :-
'The Intrepid Endeavours of Cornelius Blow'
but that's as far as I've got. Another line is needed, something like 'The Rise of the Zombots' or 'Dark Shadows'. You get the drift.
Now it's really bugging me trying to think what the hell I should call it so for now I'm just calling it 'Cornelius'.So if anybody has any brainwaves feel free to fire them over and I'll have a look.
More to come soon
The last few months have been very hectic times. After making the massive leap to set up as a freelance Illustrator / Graphic designer I have been dedicating nearly all my time to Clumsy Pickle. This is fantastic as it means I'm getting paid (albeit slowly) to do what I love, however it has meant that various projects have had to take a sideline.
As the year has rumbled on I have become acutely aware of two big events I'm attending at the latter end of the year, 'Nerd Fest' and 'Thought Bubble' both of which I am immensely excited about and can't wait for. This does however mean I need to get some of the aforementioned projects done.
Fear not dear readers as good news is here. The new Cornelius comic has been started and here is a little sneaky peek of one of the pages to prove it.
On top of this I have been making head way with the Cornelius game too. With the possibility of some very cool miniature related news!! But I'll save that for another post. ;-)
Anyway I'd best get off and make some stuff.
Evening folks. Apologies for my absence of late. Things have been really busy over on the other side at www.clumsypickle.co.uk which is my new illustration and design business. I haven't totally forgotten about you guys though as have started with some new cool stuff.
Firstly I have booked up for a new comic con in Nottingham called Nerd Fest which looks like its going to be really cool.
For anyone who came to Thought Bubble last year there are some familiar faces like Jennie Gyllblad and Corey Brotherson attending. Plus if you live anywhere even vaguely 'up north' you'll save yourself hours in travel, so hopefully see you there.
Secondly I have started work on the post apocalyptic models with lots of scratchbuilding and some new painting techniques thrown in too. (more updates to come)
Anyway, that's enough from me for now. I'll bother you all with more posts soon.
After tidying up the drafts folder on the blog I found this little piece of awesomeness. A while back I was playing around with sketches of Cornelius and posting them on Twitter which is how a lot of stuff seems to start lol. Anyway to cut a long story short, a good twitter buddy Dan Butcher, aka @THE_MrHades (who is the creator of the fantastic Vanguard) drew his rendition of Professor Cornelius Blow, and this good people is it. Can I class it as the first piece of fan art??
Since finding out I'll be attending Thought Bubble I have set to the various comic projects with renewed vigor. Firstly here is the crest for the renowned and feared Dr Heinrich Neuntoter. Arch enemy of the British Sovereignty. His forces were the reason the Bastion was created in the first place. For the sake of the British Empire lets hope he doesn't win.
More to come soon.....
As promised herre is the first of many blogs I'm actually going to write and post for a change lol.
Last year was a massive year for me in a few ways. but one of the biggest things was exhibiting at Thought Bubble in Leeds. Which for those who don't know is one of the biggest and possibly the best comic convention in this country. Its a fantastic event where small press guys like myself can rub shoulders with the big boys in the industry and there is no snobbery or anything like that. It's just a lot of fun with a lot of people who love comics. Well this year I'm going again and like last year I'm sharing a stall. This year I shall be sharing the stall with fellow comic creator and awesome artist Mike Jackson aka @Mikimus_Prime so you all need to come and visit us and get cool sketches ok :-).
As for what comics will be coming to Thought Bubble, well I'm currently working on the first full issue of 'The Intrepid Endeavours of Cornelius Blow' which will introduce all the main characters and story of what I hope will be a long running series. I am also working on the first pages of 'Potemkin2205' which is a very different kettle of fish to Cornelius, but more on that another time. Finally along with the comics I'm hoping to have progressed far enough on the Cornelius game to be able to bring a copy along to show people.
So all in all a big year ahead for comics and this is on top of all the other illustration projects I have planned. Watch this space for updates and I'll keep you all posted.
