However the burning question on nobody's mind except mine is..... Jaeger or Metzger? who's the hardest? Sadly I think the Metzger would get totally pummelled but hey ho.

Have just got back from the cinema and I have to say Pacific Rim is pretty damned awesome. Giant robotic killing machines for the win I say.

This year so far has been mentally busy with all manner of day to day life type things getting on top of me. This is in part cos that's the nature of things but also because of my woeful ability to organise my thoughts and actions, which I'm sure many of you have noticed by now. This stops here!!!!! I have so many projects simmering away including comics, miniatures and world domination plots that I've decided to get my arse in gear and actually sort things out. As such over the next few weeks I will be running a series of blog posts about key things on my mind and desk. For starters I will be displaying at Thought Bubble again this year so will be doing a lot of work on Cornelius as well as a few other very cool comic projects. I will also be working on the Cornelius game and trying to get the rules and some miniatures done for that. No small task I hear you say but I'm determined to get things cooking this year. As for other miniatures. I have decided to stop being quite such a butterfly and set some targets and goals. Firstly I won't be attempting Golden Demon as I originally intended due to the arrogance of a certain company who shall remain nameless. I will channel this effort into finishing some of my other projects. Namely my 15mm Gruntz force, Dystopian Wars Prussians, and my Infinity Ariadnas. My only dalliances into GW territory will be for Dreadfleet and Epic. So as you can see I have a lot of things to do but if i manage them correctly then I dont see any reason why they can't be done. Next post will be about the comics projects and Thought Bubble so watch this space. Mike (Elblondino) Picked up a few more bits for the Prussian fleet recently. Namely some tiny fliers and some Reiver Cruisers. This brings my fleet up to a healthy 1020 points. Still got a way to go before I can compete with some of the Twitter guys but hopefully be there before too long. The Cruisers are just a straight forward addition to the navy that fill a nice little gap between the frigates and the dreadnought and will be based up accordingly. The tiny fliers on the other hand are a totally different kettle of fish.
Now from the very outset I had decided that this Prussian force was going to be ocean based with no land forces, so the fliers all needed to reflect this. As with all the units the level of detail on the tiny flier bases is fantastic however the look of the planes stuck to the bases really doesn't do anything for me. The solution I decided was to 'free them' as I've heard it called around the internet. I wasn't sure this would work due to the size etc, but was surprised at how easily they could be cut off with an X-acto saw. Once separated I decided to have a little experiment and make a recon plane which will eventually be used alongside the Blucher Dreadnought. Below is the result of this experiment. I based it it using the same greenstuffing techniques I use on the ships, this way it ties all the models in together nicely. As for the plane itself it has a few little bits of shaped plastic rod glued to the underside to give it the appearance of one of the WW2 naval recon planes. This was then simply drilled and pined onto the base. Will post some more pics when I get round to it. Mike (Elblondino) As promised. I am starting a series of blogs based upon my new forays into wargaming. As stated I have been GW man for years, but have now decided to cast my gaze upon other manufacturers. The first of these is Dystopian Wars!!! I've been eyeing this game up for some time now. The concept of teeny tiny troops in one shape or another is highly appealing to me. Particularly naval battles as I was always making huge fleets in Command & Conquer. So combine all this with a healthy dollop of steampunk and you've got me hooked. As I mentioned the other day I've bought my first models and they are winging their way to me now. I decided to go for Prussians in the end as I feel the Prussian Navy looks the most realistic and business like. Below are a couple of my first units. Which I have chosen merely because I think they look cool. If you click on the pics It will take you to the relevant page on the Spartan Games website. I simply had to have some airships and there will be more appearing in my army.
Now the next step besides the boring waiting part is to sort out a colour scheme and how I'm going to make wave effect bases. Watch this space for the continuing saga!!!!! TTFN Mike (Elblondino) |
